SEX

Bay Area Premiere
by Mae West
directed by Tom Ross
EXTENDED to December 23, 2007!
This show is SOLD-OUT.
show length: 2 hours, 15 minutes
Populated by sailors, socialites, pimps and prostitutes, SEX, called “burst[ing] with verve and naughtiness” by the Village Voice and dubbed “wickedly fun” by Time Out, chronicles the trials and tribulations of an upwardly mobile lady of the night as she travels the world looking for love. Full of salty songs, the seductive shimmy, and a slew of notable double entendres, this stage gem caused quite a stir when it premiered on Broadway in 1926. SEX paved the brassy entertainer’s way to Hollywood, where she became one of the funniest, and most notorious, film icons of the 20th century.
Bay Area favorite Delia MacDougall stars in the role West originally penned for herself. Aurora Theatre Company Artistic Director Tom Ross directs this bawdy good time, featuring music direction by Billy Philadelphia and choreography by Jayne Zaban.
"Mae West’s 1926 sassy, bawdy comic melodrama, the Broadway hit that got her busted and helped make her a huge star, holds up very well as an entertaining romp of the naughtier edge of the Jazz Age." - San Francisco Chronicle
"Wildly entertaining and well worth seeing!" - Contra Costa Times
"With this cast, this musical director, these production values and Tom Ross's ingenious direction it is a show to put on your 'must-see' list." - TheatreWorld Magazine
"One of most fun evenings you'll ever have." - KGO Entertainment
